6 Healthy Cafes in Fremantle

Whilst the rise of the freak shake and other extreme food options has been getting plenty of attention of late, the healthy movement has continued and Fremantle is full of great cafe’s with very healthy offerings.

Here are a few of our favourites.

The Juicy Beetroot

Tucked away down a side alley on High Street, this inconspicuous gem is well known amongst locals, but often missed by visitors. They serve up affordable, fresh and wholesome salads and curries, but you’ll need to head down between 12 and 1pm if you want to grab your own share before it runs out. The Juicy Beetroot are well known for making their food fresh and shutting up the shop when everything runs out, which happens pretty early at this popular healthy haunt.

High Street Dispensary

A new and very exciting addition to the west end of Fremantle, The High St Dispensary is the home of comfort foods and superfoods alike, with soup and porridge specials on the daily for those in need of some hearty warmth, as well as a range of superfood salads and juices for those that need to kick a winter cold. Linger for lunch in its welcoming industrial style interiors or grab something convenient to takeaway – there’s no shortage of options here.

Manna Wholefoods

The original organic, fair trade and health food café in Fremantle has been around as long as some of its oldest locals. They recently revamped their kitchen to better display an endless range of wholesome takeaway or dine-in options, from homemade pies, quiches, falafel wraps, salads and raw desserts. They’ve added Golden Milk to the menu too for those interested in trying something different from their usual morning coffee and there’s a market inside where you can find organic fruit and veg and natural products from laundry powder, beauty products to sunblock.

Ootong and Lincoln

This place is forever packed to the rafters with both locals and visitors driving from the other side of the river to sample their awesome display of food, always changing based on what’s seasonal and fresh. Everything is homemade and there is no shortage of choice, from the cabinet packed full of healthy salads, patties and pastries to their extensive made to order breakfast and lunch menu, from chai chocolate pancakes to spinach and quinoa soda loaf – yum!

Raw Kitchen

A Fremantle flagship of all things uncooked, vital and delicious, this airy, light-filled vegan paradise has the most beautiful atmosphere, spacious and buzzing with people. The dessert cabinet is arguably the best in Perth and you won’t believe their hazelnut choc and kaffir lime and coconut ice cream is actually healthy for you. For those that want to try the raw pad-thai or a slice their famous raw pizza for novelty value, we’re certain you won’t stop at one visit, this place will very quickly exceed the expectations of even the most critical customer.
